Family Resource Center

Napier Enhanced Option has developed programs to meet the needs that parents face each day. Many of the parents face problems that are due to being in areas that are impoverished. Eighty three percent of the households in the neighborhood are single parents with children under eighteen. The average for Davidson County is thirty seven percent and for the state of Tennessee is twenty eight percent.

The Family Resource Center of Napier Enhanced Option has developed programs for grandparents that act as caregivers. Fourteen to twenty grandparents meet on a regular basis and learn skills on how to deal with the problems that children face today. They are also connected to a variety of agencies that assist them in their role as guardians.

The FRC and the Title One Coordinator have developed programs that are geared to help single mothers and fathers that are in need of assistance. The Title One Team has a Parent Gathering that meets once a week at the school. The meetings offer classes on nutrition, cooking, financial aid, GED preparation, domestic violence, and other areas based on the needs survey developed by parents. The parents also work with Tennessee Voices for Children and Stand for Children which act as a sounding board for children and parents.

The district required all students to wear Standard School Attire this year. All students were required to wear uniforms based on their school colors. The Family Resource Center with the assistance from private donors has been instrumental in assisting parents that were in need of assistance. The school has a clothing bank to help families that are in need of assistance.
